Importing and Exporting Users

If you wish to move or copy your FileCOPA installation elsewhere, you can export all user details to a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file, which can be used to import the details to the new installation.

Similarly, a CSV file can be manually constructed (using perhaps a spreadsheet program) containing the relevant details of multiple users for import. This may be quicker than adding users manually, one at a time.

Exporting
Press the Export Users button - you may export all users, or just those which have been selected (use the normal Windows Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click). Should you opt to export passwords, please note that these will not be encrypted, posing a security risk if the resulting file falls into the wrong hands.

Importing
First create your CSV file, either by Exporting as above, or manually. If the latter, the file should have column headings in the first row and you can use any combination of the following columns in any order you please:

Windows Authenticated Users

If the username submitted by the FTP client is NOT in the above list, a check will be made for a Windows Username and corresponding password, and if this is found (and the password valid) login will be allowed. The root directory for this user will be the the Windows User's My Documents folder.
